Lega Navale
Italiana
Delegazione di San Teodoro Sardegna
To love the sea means know it, live it, respect it, and
confront it if necessary.
The initiative started 3 years ago from a San Teodoro sea-loving
group of people led by Doctor Tonino Meloni, and it has at
the moment about 100 associates.
The aim of the group is teaching the sea to the younger, and
not so young, people. That is why they organize courses for
schools of any kind and level aiming to reveal the sea life
and getting the navigation licence. The program of these courses
includes navigation history, marine biology, and the study
of the tides and of the winds, the atmospheric pressure, and
present instruments of navigation, the Sea Point and night
time navigation.

Associazione
Ippocampo
The
Ippocampo Association was founded in 1984 and registered to
CONI and is based on sport fishing, diving and surf-custing
(shore fishing) activities with periodical contests and various
awards. There were 6 awards won so far. The contestants, after
a routine verification (getting a membership card) and choosing
the emplacements (around the coast from Olbia to Capo Comino
towards Orosei Coast), begin the race at 5 p.m. and end it
at about midnight in a restaurant where the weighing and the
dinner are served. The first award is an Ippocampo made of
gold and precious stones.

Next events:
February: surf custing
May: underwater fishing
The Memorial Riccardo di Meo Prize
The
underwater fishing meeting usually takes place in the last
week of May (26th of May)
It starts on Saturday night after a routine verification
(getting a membership card) and continues Sunday morning at
7 o clock in San Teodoro Bay when the empty bags are distributed;
every team has a boat and 2 athletes. The contest ends in
a restaurant where the weighing and the dinner are served.
Very important is the San Teodoro Office Council sponsorship
and contribute of the companies that supply the fishing equipment.
The contestants are more numerous every year, a good sign
of appreciation for the initiative. The association has won
various cups and awards at national and European competitions.
